Description: In this video, we'll show you how to add as many columns as you want to an Excel Grid (ExGrid) control on a worksheet. We'll also dive into an important concept in using rows in ExGrid (called Items) - the HITEM. ExGrid automatically assigns a new unique identifier every time you create a new Item/row and this is called the HITEM. It's a long integer and functions just like a window identifier (hWnd) for windows and controls. 🤔What is ExGrid? ExGrid is an amazing tool that allows you to edit and control your data in the safest, quickest and most visually stunning way possible. It makes it easy to sort, filter, use scrollbars, use icons, date pickers, color pickers, special editing capabilities, super speed, grouping, aggregate functions, skinning. It goes way way beyond using a ListBox, Listview, or MSFlexgrid control. In this series, I'm going to show you how to use the grid, so if you want to follow along, pause the video really quick and grab the installer below! 👉 Download ExGrid Unlimited Demo or Purchase: excelvbaisfun.com/GridHelp 👉 How to Get Course 100% Free: excelvbaisfun.com/GridHelp 📂Download this file: excelvbaisfun.com/sdm_downloads/grids-training-02-0304-multiple-columns-and-hitem-completed This free video series will be part of my 8+ hour course on the topic of the grid control (not excerpts from the course). These are full video from the course so you can get started with the ExGrid easily. 🤔Why not just a ListBox, ListView or MSFlexGrid? The problem with using ListBoxes and older controls to protect your data is that you’re very limited in the way that you present them and you can’t edit them directly. You can use them to select another entry and edit the underlying data using form fields that populate based on your selection, but it’s mostly just for selecting an item. With a grid, you can edit a field directly on the grid while the underlying data is protected. Maybe it’s in a database or a hidden sheet and you use a UserForm or home sheet to access the data using your grid. 00:00 Intro 00:35 Adding another Column to the Grid 01:17 A Note On Re-Running Column Header Codes 01:45 Steping Through the Code 02:17 What's an HITEM in ExGrid? 02:58 Capturing HITEM for new row/item 04:43 Trapping Item ID in a variable 05:42 Use Item ID to assign value to column 2 06:20 What is Base Zero or Zero-index? 07:28 Testing out the CellValue() property 08:39 Other great tutorials Get My Bestselling Excel VBA Courses: Excel VBA Essentials Course: bit.ly/UltExcelVBA Control Websites With Excel VBA: bit.ly/VbaWebAutomation Speed Up Code With VBA Arrays: bit.ly/VbaArrays Create Your Own Functions/Addins: bit.ly/CustomUDFsAddins Fill PDFs/Forms with Excel VBA: bit.ly/VbaPDFsMastery Excel VBA Barcode Lookup System & Inventory Projects: bit.ly/VbaBarcodesProjects Instantly Secure Excel Files; Transform Into EXE Programs!: bit.ly/Excel2EXE Automate Outlook with Excel VBA: bit.ly/ExcelVBAOutlook Professional Animations In Excel by Kishon: click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=BYzUIhHF1Ys&mid=39197&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.udemy.com%2Fmicrosoft-excel-animation-for-great-user-experience%2F Fantastic Developer Tools: Lock Any Workbook Into An EXE (Software only, see course above): excelvbaisfun.com/get-xlspadlock Create Custom Installers: excelvbaisfun.com/get-pb Free Ebook: excelvbaisfun.com/FreeEbook Dan Strong's Articles: excelvbaisfun.com/blog Free Excel Workbooks: excelvbaisfun.com/free-workbooks Business Inquiries, Consulting, Comments, etc: excelvbaisfun.com/contact ExcelVbaIsFun YouTube Playlists: Excel Vba Basics: bit.ly/ExcelVbaBasicsPlaylist Tips N Tricks: bit.ly/VbaTipsNTricksPlaylist Userforms: bit.ly/ExcelVbaUserformsPlaylist Events Series: bit.ly/VbaEventsPlaylist Activex Controls: bit.ly/VbaActiveXPlaylist Sample Excel Programs: bit.ly/SampleExcelPrograms Where else you can find me: LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/danielcstrong Facebook: facebook.com/Excelvbaisfun Twitter: twitter.com/ExcelVbaIsFun Google Plus+: google.com/+ExcelVbaIsFun T-Shirts/Merch: ExcelVbaIsFun.spreadshirt.com #ExcelVbaIsFun #DanStrong #ExGrid 'Royalty Free Music by audiomicro.com/royalty-free-music'
